Terms of Service
Last updated: August 25, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") are an agreement between you and dummy.cafe ("we," "us," "our") governing your use of the dummy.cafe hosting provider — the service that hosts your Atmosphere account and keeps it online, backed up, and reachable.
By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the service.
In these Terms, "Atmosphere" refers to the open social network built on the AT Protocol (ATProto) — the decentralized protocol behind Bluesky and a growing number of other applications. This document uses "Atmosphere" to refer to the network as a whole.
1. What the Service Is
dummy.cafe is a hosting provider for the Atmosphere. We host your Atmosphere account: your identity, your data repository, and any blobs (images, videos, and other media) attached to it. We keep it online and available to other services on the network.
We are a hosting provider, not a social media platform. We do not operate feeds, algorithms, or content recommendations. Apps that use the Atmosphere (Bluesky, and others) have their own terms of service and moderation policies, which apply independently of ours.
Your account is portable. You can migrate to or away from dummy.cafe at any time without losing your identity, followers, or data. We will never hold your account hostage.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 14 years old to use the service. If you are under 18, you must have the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
3. Your Account
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Don't share your password or app passwords with anyone. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at hi@dummy.cafe or through any other contact method listed on our PDS homepage.
You may not impersonate another person or entity when choosing a handle.
We provide handles on several domains, including dummy.to, silly.gay, 67.gay, lsky.app, and realms.you. You can also use your own domain as a handle.
4. Your Content
You own your content. We don't claim any ownership over the things you create, post, or store through the service.
By using the service, you grant us a limited license to store, serve, and transmit your content as necessary to operate the hosting provider — for example, syncing your data to the Atmosphere relay network, syncing your data and blobs to requesting clients, and making backups. This license exists only to run the service and ends when you delete your content or your account.
Your content is published on an open network. Once your data is synced to the Atmosphere relay network, other services and users may access, cache, index, or display it according to their own terms and practices. We have no control over what third-party services do with data they receive from the network.
5. Acceptable Use
This section covers what you may and may not store or publish through accounts hosted on dummy.cafe.
Because your content is published to the open Atmosphere network, apps and services where your content appears (such as Bluesky) may enforce their own community guidelines independently. Violations of another service's guidelines may result in action by that service (such as content removal or account restrictions within their app), but do not automatically constitute a violation of these Terms.
You may not use the service to:
- Store, host, or distribute child sexual abuse material (CSAM). This includes any visual material that realistically or factually depicts a minor in sexual acts — meaning material produced in a situation in which a child was actually the object of sexually offensive conduct, or material that resembles such a depiction in a misleading manner. We have zero tolerance for this and will report it to the relevant authorities.
- Engage in, promote, or coordinate terrorism or violent extremism.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or intimidate others — including doxxing (publishing someone's private information without consent), coordinated harassment campaigns, or targeted abuse.
- Distribute malware, viruses, or other harmful code.
- Send spam or bulk unsolicited messages.
- Impersonate another person, organization, or entity in a misleading way.
- Engage in fraud, phishing, or deceptive practices.
- Infringe on others' intellectual property rights, including distributing copyrighted material you don't have the right to share.
- Circumvent, interfere with, or abuse the technical infrastructure of the Atmosphere network, including our service, relays, or other providers.
- Use the service for any activity that violates applicable law.
Content that is legal but may be restricted:
- Sexually explicit content must comply with the self-service labeling requirements of any apps where it appears (for example, Bluesky requires that adult content be self-labeled). We may require you to appropriately label such content or take action if it is not labeled.
- Automated accounts (bots) may be permitted on a case-by-case basis. If permitted, they must be clearly identified and must not be used for spam, manipulation, or abuse.
We may remove content or take action on accounts that violate these rules. When possible, we'll tell you what happened and why. In severe cases (CSAM, imminent threats), we may act immediately without prior notice.
If you encounter content or behavior on our service that you believe violates these Terms, we'd appreciate it if you let us know by emailing hi@dummy.cafe.
6. Intellectual Property
dummy.cafe's name, logo, and website content are ours. The open-source components of the Atmosphere (the AT Protocol, reference PDS implementation, and related tools) are governed by their respective open-source licenses (primarily MIT and Apache 2.0).
7. Account Actions and Termination
By you: You can leave at any time. You can migrate your account to another hosting provider, or you can delete your account entirely. If you want help migrating, reach out to us — we're happy to assist.
By us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. In most cases, we'll try to warn you first and give you a chance to fix the issue. For serious violations (see Section 5), we may act immediately.
We also reserve the right to ask you to leave the service for any reason. In such cases, we will always make a reasonable effort to give you time to export your data or migrate to another provider before your data is removed.
If we decide to shut down the service entirely, we will give at least 30 days' advance notice and make a reasonable effort to help remaining users migrate to other hosting providers or export their data.
8. Backups
We make regular backups of your account data (your repository and blobs) to protect against data loss. Backups are stored separately from the primary service. Backups are kept according to a retention schedule and are not kept indefinitely — older backups are periodically pruned. If you delete your account, your backup data will also be removed.
More detail on how we handle backup data is in our Privacy Policy.
9. Service Availability
We do our best to keep the service running and reliable, but we can't guarantee 100% uptime. The service is provided "as is" and "as available." We are a small operation, not a company with an SRE team — and things may occasionally break or go down.
We don't promise any specific level of service, uptime, or support response time. We publish service status at status.dummy.cafe.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document. If we make significant changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify affected users (for example, by email and/or an announcement on Bluesky). Your continued use of the service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. We disclaim all warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
This doesn't affect any rights you have under EU consumer protection law that can't be waived by contract.
12. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless dummy.cafe and its operator from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to your use of the service, your content, or your violation of these Terms.
This doesn't apply to the extent that a claim arises from our own negligence, willful misconduct, or failure to comply with these Terms.
13. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, dummy.cafe and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim arising from or related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months preceding the claim.
This doesn't limit our liability for things that can't be limited under applicable law, including liability for intent or gross negligence under Spanish law.
14. Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Spain, unless applicable consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your place of residence.
We'd prefer to resolve things informally — if you have a problem, please email us at hi@dummy.cafe and we'll do our best to work it out.
For EU residents: a list of consumer dispute resolution entities in EU member states is available at consumer-redress.ec.europa.eu.
15. General
- If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- These Terms are the entire agreement between you and dummy.cafe regarding the service. They supersede any prior agreements.
- Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms is not a waiver of that provision.
- You may not assign or transfer your rights under these Terms. We may assign ours in connection with a transfer of the service.
